Here are the highlights from the August 10 meeting of the CSU board of directors.

The vice-president student life informed the board on the status of upcoming events, including the orientation party, re-cap, captivate, and CSU presence at capfest. The first nations student liaison and collective name change to indigenous students liaison/collective was approved. Nirmal Raj was appointed as interim students of colour liaison, and Hossein Movahedi was appointed as interim mature and parent students liaison. The Business Society of Capilano University draft budget 2018/19 was approved with a few amendments. Emily Gaudette was appointed to the governance committee to allow the committee to reach quorum. The board also discussed the status of the Saudi Arabian students’ scholarship retractions as well as a North Shore News article written by Anna-Elaine Rempel regarding misogynistic language used to describe a mayoral candidate.
