Here are the highlights from the special meeting of the board that was called for February 27, as the February 24 board meeting had to adjourn early due to lack of quorum.
The final draft 2017/2018 budget was approved in time to be presented to the membership at the semi-annual general meeting, and the board released funds in order to support a campaign for the upcoming referendum on new CSU fees.
The CSU’s First Nations students liaison was appointed, by the board, to Capilano University’s First Nations Students Services “Indigenize the Academy” committee. This committee is comprised of indigenous and non-indigenous staff, faculty, students, and community members representing every corner of the university with the aim to host various Truth and Reconciliation events throughout the academic year. Additionally, two members of the board were appointed to sit on the Student Success Taskforce.
Jullian Kolstee, the former vice-president of university relations and services, was presented a gift of appreciation for his three years of service with the Capilano Students’ Union, and we all wish him the best in his future endeavours!
