Here are the highlights from the May 26 meeting of the CSU board of directors. Vice-president of student life Beatriz Miralles, as the only eligible executive member left on the board, was nominated and elected president for the remainder of the 2016-2017 term. A new board will take office on June 1, at which point a new president will be elected.
The board approved the purchase of a digital screen similar to those found outside the CSU Members Centre and Treehouse to be displayed in the Maple Lounge.
Changes were approved to the procedures regarding the titles and duties of the executive positions on the board. The roles of the social and environmental justice coordinators were disbanded, with many of their duties being passed on to the newly established vice-president equity and sustainability. Some responsibilities of the vice-president of internal development and vice-president of university relations and services were shifted to the newly established vice-president academic and vice-president finance and services. The positions of the vice-president of student life and the vice-president of external relations will remain the same.
