MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH EVENTS

Student Voices Forum –  Mental Health in Post-Secondary

October 2 • 11:30am-1:00pm, CSU Members Centre

University can be a stressful time for everyone and we want to make sure that we are doing our best to support our members’ mental health and wellbeing during their time here. Join us from 11:30am to 1:00pm in the CSU Members Centre on October 2 to participate in discussions around mental health, de-stigmatization, and the culture of understanding around mental health at Capilano. Come have your voice heard and help us make your student union work for you.

Tea Party

October 9 • 11:30am-2:30pm • CSU Members Centre

We know that student life gets busy and it can be hard to find time for yourself. Join us in the CSU Members Centre on October 9 and enjoy a relaxing afternoon of tea, snacks, and kicking back. You will also receive a self-care package if you come early, filled with some helpful goodies and free swag!

Art Therapy

October 10 • 11:30-4:00pm • CSU Members Centre

De-Stress Week returns with Art Therapy Day in the CSU Members Centre on October 10. Come get creative with paints, pastels, and pretty pictures! Paint outside the lines (or inside, we don’t care!) and let your imagination run wild. Make some buttons and let your true colours show while we admire your work.

Nintendo Switch Party

October 11 • 11:30-2:30pm • CSU Maple Lounge

Come join us in the CSU Maple Lounge for some fun games and free food on October 11. Come make some new friends and quickly ruin those friendships when you blue-shell them in Mario Kart, or grab a board game and enjoy some popcorn and enjoy yourself! Games are drop-in style so you can come as you please during this busy time of the semester.

Breaking the Silence- Invisible Disabilities Film Festival

October 18 • 4:00pm-5:30pm •  CSU Members Centre

Disabilities aren’t always visible, and sometimes it can be difficult to openly discuss one’s experiences with them. This film festival brings together unique perspectives on living with an invisible disability and how we can create better culture of understanding surrounding them. Join us on October 18 in the CSU Members Centre to enjoy an evening of movies, snacks and community building as we recognize Invisible Disabilities Week with this event.

Accessing Resources Fair

October 23 • 11:30-1:30 • CSU Members Centre

We are bringing together a variety of on- and off-campus resources on October 23 to connect students with supports and new opportunities to be involved in mental health awareness and advocacy. Come join us to connect with exciting organizations and initiatives designed to support to students and other community members, as well as some delicious free food!
