Collectives
The CSU is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive campus environment where students from various backgrounds and identities can thrive. To support this mission, we have established several student collectives that serve as spaces for community-building, advocacy, and support. Each collective plays a crucial role in addressing the unique needs and challenges faced by these student populations, promoting inclusivity, and creating a sense of belonging on campus.
Black Student Union
The Black Student Union (BSU) was formed, under the Capilano Students’ Union, in the spring of 202. The BSU represents self-identified Black students and aims to foster community and make CapU a safer space.
The BSU is headquartered at the Black Resource Centre (Library 115), a space for self-identifying Black students only.
Past activities have included the Black History Month Cabaret and advocacy in favor of the Scarborough Charter
Membership is limited to self-identifying Black students.

Accessibility Justice Collective
The accessibility justice collective advocates for greater campus inclusion and works to remove barriers that impact the success of students with disabilities.
The collective collaborates with the university's accessibility department and organizes events and campaigns to raise awareness and improve accessibility on campus.
They provide resources, support, and community-building activities for students with disabilities.

Indigenous Students Collective
The Indigenous Students collective was formed by Indigenous students to discuss issues, provide support, and organize events and campaigns related to Indigenous issues. The collective aims to improve accessibility, promote cultural awareness, and address the specific needs of Indigenous students.

International Students Collective
The iternational students collective represents the international student body at Capilano University. They assist international students in navigating their new environment and provide resources and support. The collective promotes diversity and multiculturalism through cultural exchange and educational campaigns.

Mature and Parent Students Collective
The mature and parent students collective supports and advocates for mature students and those who are parents.
They address issues such as childcare, work-life balance, and flexibility in schedules and course loads.
The collective aims to create a more inclusive campus by acknowledging the diverse identities and challenges faced by mature and parent students.

Queer Students Collective
The Queer students collective supports 2SLGBTQQIA+ students at Capilano University. The collective provides a platform for discussions, support, and organizing events related to queer and trans issues.
They aim to create a safe and inclusive campus environment through awareness campaigns, social events, and the Queer Resource Centre (Birch 313), which offers resources and meeting space for students.

Women Students Collective
The women students collective is a group of self-identifying women who meet to discuss feminist issues, organize events, and advocate for gender equality. They collaborate with other collectives and organizations to support various causes related to women’s rights.
The Women’s Centre (Birch 310), offers a safe space and resources for all self-identified women on campus.Use your CapCard to access.
